Animal Shows

The weather has finally warmed and show season at Nashville Zoo is in full swing at the amphitheater located outside next to the Unseen New World. Join us for three fun and educational performances as we provide our audience with an opportunity to be entertained as they learn about animals from all around the world.

Meet the Locals - 11 a.m.
This show is all about Tennessee animals. Be sure to stop by the 11 a.m. show and see Iris, one of the Zoo’s three striped skunks. Keep your eyes peeled as she makes her own unique entrance onto the stage. You may recognize Iris’s black fur and white stripe as you may have seen a skunk just like her pass through your own backyard. Iris has been starring in animal shows at Nashville Zoo since 2007.

Animal All Stars - 1:30 p.m.
Come see Nashville Zoo animals demonstrate their incredible athletic prowess in this fun and exciting show about animal athletes including Tony, a hyacinth macaw (the largest species of parrots) and reigning champion of nut cracking competitions. Visit an Animal All Stars Show and see if Tony will win against his next child competitor from the audience. Audience members will even be able to purchase a souvenir button of Tony at the end of the show as he is featured as the newest button in the F.A.N.Z. (Friends of Animals at Nashville Zoo) collection.





Wildlife Wonders - 3:30 p.m.
Meet some of Nashville Zoo’s most fascinating animals and find out why they are considered true wildlife wonders. Be amazed by Emily, a gopher tortoise, who will share her surprising skill for selecting a red target among an array of colored objects. How is she able to distinguish red from the other colors and why? She was actually trained to do so. Also in the wild, gopher tortoises will occasionally eat wild fruit and/or berries.
