Are You a FANZ?
You may not have realized it, but you could have already made an impact on the Nashville Crayfish Project.
At our animal shows this year, guests learned a little about our FANZ club. FANZ, or Friends of the Animals at Nashville Zoo, gives visitors the opportunity tomake an immediate impact on conservation issues affecting our state. Guests can make a $2 donation and receive collectible cards and pins featuring animals in the shows, like Bailey the serval or Isabella the Burmese python. This year, the FANZ Club is sponsoring the Nashville Crayfish Project, with money raised going directly to protecting the crayfish’s natural habitat as well as developing the conservation and breeding program.
FANZ club recently received accolades for its support of conservation issues in our state. The International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators (IAATE) awarded FANZ for its support of avian conservation efforts. Conservation Award applicants were evaluated on the project’s impact on avian conservation, extent of IAATE involvement, use of creative or innovative methods, and sustainability of the conservation effort. Last year, FANZ supported the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation.
Become a FANZ at your next Zoo visit. Animal shows begin again in the spring.
