Assistant Lead, Security

Description:
The Assistant Lead Security person is responsible for performing park wide security patrols utilizing our Guard One Patrol wand and for identifying and reporting any incidents occurring during their shift. In addition the person is responsible for supervising and providing direction to 3rd shift housekeeping staff to ensure that they are performing quantity and quality of assigned work. Work hours are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Thursday through Monday. Work schedule may include early or late start times and working weekends and holidays as required for meeting the Zoo’s operating needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing park wide security rounds.
  • Responsible for utilizing Guard One park patrol wand system. Performs park inspections as identified in standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for identifying any incidents and reporting them to direct supervisor.
  • Responsible for maintaining a daily log of any occurrences during the shift.
  • Responsible for supervising and providing direction to 3rd shift housekeeping staff to ensure work performed meets quality and quantity standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to interact professionally with both staff and visitors.
  • Ability to prepare written daily incident reports at end of each shift.
  • Ability to effectively supervisor assigned staff to ensure standards are met.
  • Ability to perform unskilled and/or semi-skilled maintenance, grounds and housekeeping tasks when assigned.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work outside year round in inclement weather conditions such as extreme high/low temperatures, snow and rain conditions. Must be able to work on his or her feet for extended periods of time and have the ability to bend, stoop, and extend oneself etc., as required for performing assigned tasks. Must be able to work off of ladders, scaffolding and lifts. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.

Education:
Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have a minimum 2 years experience working in the Security field. Must have a minimum 2 years experience as a supervisor.
