For many years, Nashville Zoo’s Membership policy has required that one person named on the membership card must show an ID as well as the membership card upon entering the Zoo. This policy protects members from their card being used without their consent, and it protects the Zoo against abuse. In most cases, a named adult will present the ID.

Many of our membership levels offer the option for a 'Guest', which some utilize for a nanny, grandparent, friend, etc. to visit with the named child. With this flexibility also came the burden of providing ID for the only named member present for those visits…the child. Several members have expressed their frustration over providing acceptable ID for children. We understand your concerns and are therefore revising our ID policy.

From now on named member children visiting with someone using the 'Guest' option listed on their cards may present the Zoo membership card (or temporary card) on which they are listed and will be allowed to provide an ID* of a named adult on the card. Below highlights the terms of use and lists some examples of acceptable ID. We hope that this change will better serve the needs of our membership.

Thank you.

Terms of Use All three of the terms must be satisfied to be admitted

  • A named member [adult or child] must be present. .
Only those persons named on the card will be admitted. Name substitutions are not permitted. A 'Guest' may only visit with a named member.

  • Must present proof of valid membership - membership card, e-confirmation, membership receipt.
This may be in print or digital form, both sides of the membership card must be visible.
If no proof of membership is present you must visit the Membership Sales & Services building to have your membership status confirmed.

  • Must show ID* for a named member on the card.
An adult member will show their ID. A named child member visiting without a named adult[with a Guest or alone] may show ID for one of the named adult members, this may be in print or digital form.

TIPS: A digital form of the Membership card or ID [photo image] may be sent to the person accompanying your child as an email or text. This is a handy way to ensure that your caregiver always has the proper documents on hand, If "guest" is not listed on your card the person accompanying your child will pay admission for themselves.

*Accepted forms of ID

  • Any photo ID
  • Photo copy or a snapshot of a photo ID (for member children visiting without a named adult)
  • Insurance card
  • Any government issued ID (sensitive information like a Social Security number can be blacked out)

Non-accepted forms of ID

  • Business cards
  • Credit cards
  • Personal notes

NEW Membership Sales & Services Building
The next time you visit the Zoo you will see the new Membership Sales & Services building to the left of the main ticket gates. This building will [img serve as the central point on grounds for:

  • membership sales (joining, renewals, gift purchases)
  • ordering a replacement card
  • upgrading to a different level
  • making changes to your card
  • purchasing admission for additional guests

Moving membership activities away from the main ticket lines will allow us to better serve members as well as expediting general admission. We are very excited about the new kiosk style sales stations at the building which allow members to enter their information directly, very similar to our website screens.

Members will also notice two lines at the ticket gate specifically designated for MEMBER entry [please remember that you must have the card and ID]. We hope you will enjoy this addition to accommodate the needs of our expanding membership base.
